  1. Hi Tara, I love your blog. I’m so glad you’re willing to share your story. Although I’m African American, I was born in Japan – military parents. When we returned to the US, I remember as a kid not fitting in, especially if I showcased the kimonos for show-in-tell, or some of the many items we had around the house. In fact, I felt it was better for met not to mention it just to fit in better – depending upon where I was living in the US. I’ve always had a love for Japan, its culture and have more recently started pursuing learning the language more, with hopes to at least visit some day. Your family story is inspiring and even helps me to be open and receptive for anything! Thanks again for sharing.
