Make money while Homeschooling
You can make money while homeschooling no matter what the age of your child is.
If you are thinking about homeschooling your children you might be considering a few barriers to beginning.
How will you continue to bring money into your home? How will I maintain or enhance my lifestyle while tending to my children most of the day?
Especially when your children are young you may need to work with them more hands on. With the cost of daycare rising does it make sense to homeschool and still use a daycare.
You see all these other homeschool moms living luxuriously or at the very least not working a 9-5. In this blog post we will answer the ultimate question of How homeschool moms make money.
This post will give you resources to make money while homeschooling:
Working Remotely
Working Overnight
Creating your own business
Doing project based work
I hope you are fully able to explore one of these options so that you can start making full time money to support your household or extra money to upgrade your quality of life.
Homeschool is a very different lifestyle. The children are home with you most of the day and they are likely eating 3 meals and snacks.
Homeschool families can easily find themselves spending more money by homeschooling. If you are needing resources on how to find homeschool materials read more about it on the blog.
I also have a blog post about how to find free homeschool supplies and how to organize your homeschool supplies.
Remote Work
The first thing that comes to mind is remote work. We are used to this concept now after dealing with the pandemic. There are legitimate remote work at home jobs that are listed on job sites.
I suggest looking at Indeed, Dice and on Amazon. They all hire for remote work. Many of the remote work jobs will hover around tech, medical and writing.
If you find that you are not qualified for these jobs, plan to learn a new skill. The amount of time it takes you to learn a new skill that will qualify you for a work from home job can be as little as 6 months.
Stay positive and start researching. Trusted sites to learn are Code Academy, Coursera, Linked In, and Udemy. I do not suggest going to a 6K bootcamp until you have done some self learning.
The bootcamps are legitimate as well but they are VERY intense and hard to keep up with if you have a large family with small children.
Stay at home moms sacrifice to be able to stay home with their children. If you need to learn a new skill set to work from home this is where your sacrifice will begin.
Working Overnight
Maybe you are not interested in learning anything new. You can still earn money. In most towns there is overnight work. Those jobs are usually customer service or manual labor.
Look for hotel night audit work. If you can sell them on your basic math skills, a good work ethic and the ability to stay awake you’ll land yourself a job.
Manual labor is always needed. Especially during the holidays you will find that stores like Walmart, Target and possibly even grocery stores will have a night shift.
Look for those jobs! Some will offer holiday work, full time work or part time job offers depending on the need in your region.
Hotlines and customer service hires for overnight work as well. Think of all the things that have to keep going in our society for 24 hours.
Look there for work. Hospitals, tow truck dispatch. Just about anything if you know to look for it.
Create your own business
For some, doing your own thing is ideal.
When people talk about how homeschool moms make money you will often hear that they have their own business.
It has turned into a fantasy for many moms but it is not easy. People are also not very transparent about the fact that they were making over 100K in their careers before deciding to quit and homeschool.
These jobs left them with great savings and a pretty healthy contacts list. No matter where you start you can be successful. I started with selling my handmade crafts.
I do paper crafts, crochet and later had gotten into selling tees I designed on print on demand sites like Printiful.
Amazon will allow you to start selling if you just want to get into selling. You can also start selling your handmade crafts on Etsy.
YouTube is an excellent place to start researching how to set these things up. To start a business is not easy but what is? All endeavors take effort and they will all usually pay off with time and energy.
Another way to start your own business is to be a social media influencer. If you have any kind of social media following you can start selling to your followers.
Post affiliate links from places you already shop or join the Amazon influencer program. You will get a small pay out every time someone buys something.
This method is more for extra money. It will take time to get consistent money from even having 20 affiliate programs that you use so be mindful of that.
This post is meant to empower you and provide real options. Not to tell you that you will be able to pay your rent from doing surveys, because you won’t!
Take time to follow the advice and leads given to see if you can come up with something that will work for you.
Project based work
The last is to do projects. This is when you have a skill set and you are able to work on short term projects in fashion, media or tech.
Friends will often call me to help with building a company because I know SEO optimization. I am available for hire if you are interested and might need help with your blog.
Blogging is one way I make money from home but I will reserve explaining how I do that for another blog post.
Projects can be tax status coded as 1099 or W2 and can last a few weeks up to a year.
Projects can be ended or extended at any time. This is something to consider if you need consistent income to pay bills.
Because I have a few streams of income this is one of my favorite leads for income. Start connecting with other professionals and joining groups on FB.
There is always someone who is looking for a freelancer to add to a project. As you can see there are many ways to make money while homeschooling.
