Swimsuits for new moms
I hope your Memorial Day holiday was awesome! Beach season is officially here now. Some moms look forward to the beach and some moms don’t. Having a swimsuit you feel comfortable in is key. Even the most confident moms may have some parts she may want to hide or shape. It sounds kind of silly to think that moms have to wear “swimsuits for moms” and they totally don’t.
This blog post suggests swimsuits for new moms. I suggest the best swimsuits with moms in general in mind. There are some suits that will take you from your baby bump right through nursing. Others are good if you just had a baby and others are great if you are still learning your new body.
We have different lifestyles to accommodate and different bodies that we like to style for our personal level of confidence. If you live in a conservative country like Japan…like I did for 7 years, you want to look chic but not overexposed. Even with the perfect body (whatever that is) you certainly want pertinent parts covered while feeling great especially if you are out with your family.
Perhaps you are still nursing. You are going to need something that will allow you to nurse to your comfort level. Sure you can just pull down your suit but that may not be as comfortable for yourself or your baby. You want to invest in a nursing swimsuit!
Check out my round up of swimsuits you can easily find on Amazon.
Let’s get right into the nursing swimsuit.
This design is cute and provides a stress free nursing experience. Just unhook the latch in front of the straps. What’s good about this suit is that it is functional whether you are nursing there at the beach or pumping for a nanny where you and hubby might want to step out later on the boardwalk.
The bottom is just as well thought out as the top. Ruching at the sides and a high waist are great for supporting your postpartum belly. You might even want to wear this as you are expecting! Then it can last you even longer. Probably 5 months on until baby is done nursing.
This suit is a must have for new moms. Swimsuits for new moms do not have to be bland or in boring colors. You just had a baby, you did not commit a crime. Look great, have fun and make sure you and baby get your nutrients at the beach!
This is certainly a winner. Very modest and forgiving in the mid section. It flows well and is made to last the entire season. A very neutral tone means this is a swimsuit you can wear at the beach with girlfriends or on a day out with your children.
I look at this suit as the upgrade to the swim skirt. Remember those suits!!! The ones with the little ice skater ruffle. I did not feel comfortable in that going into my 40s. I wanted something a little more sophisticated and this is it.
When we are with the kids it’s important to think about restroom runs, going back and forth to concessions stands and taking them into the water. I felt amazing after all of my children and was able to keep my figure.
As fit as I am I don’t always want to attract that much attention when I am with my children. Confidence is key and I am not confident if people are gawking at me when I am with my boys. This swimsuit looks like a confidence booster no matter what shape you are in! There are 7 colors to choose from. Comes in sizes small to 3XL.
I love ruffles! They are just so fun and really draw attention away from your shape. If you are interested in something fun and playful this is my pick. It’s in 2 pieces but gives the illusion of a one piece. This means a non stressful trip to the public toilets.
One thing I want to mention is that we are not all trying to hide our bodies. We need swimsuits that are quick and easy to work with in all situations. Especially when tending to infants or toddlers when most of your attention needs to go to them.
I have been at the beach with my toddler. Trying to chase her around, boobs popping out, no support and adjusting my bottoms all around the beach and pool. Don’t be me. Get this suit!
What’s funny is that I suggest some of these as swimsuits for new moms but you are pretty much a new mom your entire motherhood. So I guess this one is for you. This suit comes in 13 colorways. Excellent size range and ships internationally.
This retro style has to be my favorite for voluptuous figures. It’s such a cute feminine style. Anyone familiar with the song? “She wore an itsy bitsy teenie weenie yellow polka dot bikini..” Yeah well thank goodness this one is not so itsy bitsy. I prefer to cover my bitsys while at the beach with my children.
The site describes this as a flattering wrap style with built in padded cups. The cups are removable so that is a nice plus. This provides the support you may need if you are nursing. You’ll also feel comfortable during the process of drying up your milk if you are choosing not to nurse. Please read more about what to do about the formula shortage on my blog. I hope you and your little one ar ewell during the formula crisis of 2022. Life does not have to stop now that you are a mom. It just has to be different in some ways.
I would totally dress this up with bangles and a time period hairstyle. Nobody appreciates these high waist styles more than moms. If you had a C Section or still need time adjusting to your new body this is a great choice. Oh, and congratulations on becoming a mother. You’ll do great!
I like the criss cross in this style. I also like the pattern on the bottom only. The solid top creates a nice versatile look. I vote for this if you are an Influencer. Keeping the pattern away from your face creates a great shot for products or if you are trying to highlight hair or accessories. You also get a tankini feel. The criss cross creates that “snatched” waist that so many are obsessed with right now.
Share this article with someone who is so ready for the summer. Thanks for reading my suggestions for best swimsuits for mom! Swimsuits for new moms are not always easy to find but Amazon does a great job of providing us with options. They have a very friendly return policy and it just really works for me as a busy blogging mom to shop with them. I hope at least one of these styles will work for you.
