The life of a stay at home mom
Motherhood may be an emotional rollercoaster offering many different emotions and experiences. If you are a stay-at-home mom, you will understand the benefits and drawbacks of living the life of a stay-at-home mom.
It can be challenging for stay-at-home moms to juggle mom life and personal life, which may make you feel like you don’t have anything else going on for yourself other than being a mother.
This can lead to feelings of low self-esteem, depersonalization, and burnout. I suggest reading a survivor’s guide to motherhood. A frequently asked question is how to manage to be a stay-at-home mom. Here are a few tips to help you become a pro in the stay-at-home mom life.
Work-life balance
Being a stay-at-home mom is a full-time job; like any other career, there must be a work-life balance. Of course, you can’t stop being a mother, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have a life of your own. Here are a few pointers to help you find balance and slay as a SAHM:
- Get ready every morning: Before starting your daily chores, you must get ready and spend time grooming yourself every morning. Doing so will make you feel like a queen all day. If you love dressing up, you can wear new fun outfits every day, and it will make you feel confident and cute.
- Take breaks: I can’t stress enough how important it is to take breaks throughout the day. You can take a break while your little ones are at school or sleeping. On your break, do things that make you happy, like making yourself a coffee and reading your favorite book or binge-watching a series you have always wanted to watch.
This me-time is much-needed to make you feel happy and refresh your mind. It will also help you curb any feelings of sadness or anxiety.
- Leave home alone: I understand how awful mom guilt can be, and leaving your children at daycare or home with a nanny can make you feel terrible. But you must realize that there is nothing wrong with that because you, too, are a human being who needs to relax and enjoy yourself. Make plans with your pals or take your partner out on date nights.
This will allow you to clear your thoughts and become a better mother. Furthermore, doing so would help you deepen your bonds with your friends and partner.
Schedule Your Day
Creating a schedule is another great way to make the most out of a stay-at-home mom life. Take some time to plan your day and write down a list of things you need to do. A schedule can help you manage your tasks better and stay sane.
You can also add fun things to your schedule like doing cheeky online shopping, meeting a friend for coffee, taking a walk around the block, watching the sunset, or doing a meditation class.
Start Teaching Your Kids to Be Independent at a Young Age
Sometimes our children become overly dependent on us; they expect us to play with them constantly, attend to their demands, and feed them meals, even if doing these things is sometimes necessary if your infant is too young. You can still try to educate your children to do things on their own at an early age.
For example, when your child begins eating solids and becomes used to them, you can offer them a bowl of food and allow them to eat it on their own. Of course, it will be messy, but your child will soon learn to eat independently, allowing you to focus on other things or relax while they feed themselves.
Go To Playgroup
Attending playgroups can not only help your child make friends and socialize, but it will also help you make new friends. Having other mom pals can be beneficial since who better to seek advice than other moms? Other mom buddies can also be a terrific emotional support system because they will understand you and your issues more deeply and can relate to you more.
Trust me when I say that going to a playgroup has many advantages you don’t want to miss out on. It will also motivate you to leave the house, and the change of atmosphere will benefit your and your child’s mental health.
Let Go Of the Idea of a Perfectly Organized Home
Many mothers are obsessed with having a clean, tidy, and organized home. I get it; who doesn’t want a neat living room that appears as if it belongs in a furniture store? But, my friend, having children means having messy rooms, toys in every corner, and food scraps on the floor.
No matter how thoroughly you clean and tidy your home, your children will always make a mess within the next five minutes. Many people will feel angry and frustrated, but the simple remedy is to let go of the idea of having a spotless home at all times.
Ask For Help
This is one of the most essential and beneficial tips I can give to stay-at-home mothers. Sometimes life gets too much for us, and we all have bad days. When you are in need, a helping hand can save your life.
There is nothing wrong with asking for assistance, and you should seek help from your spouse, family, neighbor, or friend. You can also ask your other mom girlfriends for recommendations on trustworthy nannies if things get out of hand.
Hiring a nanny trusted and experienced nanny will help you give time to yourself throughout the day and go out alone without having to worry about the safety of your children.
Don’t Lose Touch with the Working World
People lose touch with the professional world when they decide to become full-time mothers. We get so caught up in domestic responsibilities like cooking, cleaning, and wiping bums that we overlook the importance of working on our resumes.
You never know when hard times will strike, and you will need to work again, and standing on your feet may become difficult once your children have grown up and you want to acquire a job.
So, there are numerous ways to stay in touch with the working world; you can take up freelancing tasks, update your LinkedIn profile, and maintain contact with your coworkers. This will be useful if you decide to return to work.
